THE Australian market looks set to
fall after a weak session on Wall Street due to disappointment with
earnings reports from the likes of Apple and Microsoft.
At 0645 AEST on Thursday, the September share price index futures contract was down two points at 5,550.
There is no major economic news scheduled for release on Thursday. Macquarie Group holds its annual general meeting in Sydney.
In company news, Fortescue Metals, Newcrest Mining and BC Iron are due to release quarterly production reports, and construction firm CIMIC will post its half year financial results.
The market fell on Wednesday, ending a six day winning streak. the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index shed 92.1 points, or 1.61 per cent, to 5,614.6 points and the broader All Ordinaries index dropped 85 points, or 1.49 per cent, to 5,603.5.
