U.K. stocks were little changed as
gains in Barclays Plc and miners offset a decline in oil stocks.
Barclays added 1.7 percent after Goldman Sachs Group Inc. recommended investors buy shares of the bank. Rio Tinto Group climbed 1.2 percent and Anglo American Plc gained 1.7 percent.
Royal Dutch Shell Plc retreated amid concern the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries won’t cut output at today’s meeting.
The FTSE 100 Index (UKX) climbed 9.26 points, or 0.1 percent, to 6,738.43 at 9:50 a.m. in London. Shares gained as much as 0.3 percent earlier as data showed German unemployment dropped in November more than forecast.
The broader FTSE All-Share Index rose 0.2 percent today, while Ireland’s ISEQ Index gained 0.4 percent. U.S. markets are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
