THE Australian dollar is higher against the greenback which weakened after the release of downbeat US economic data.
At 0630 AEST on Wednesday, the Aussie was trading at 74.51 US cents, up from 74.28 cents on Tuesday.
The US dollar softened in overnight trade following the release of weaker-than-expected US retail sales data for June.
US retail sales fell 0.3 per cent in the month, disappointing economists’ estimates of 0.3 per cent rise.
