Australian dollar steady after US jobs data

THE Australian dollar is virtually unchanged against the greenback, which has fallen on disappointing US employment data.
At 0630 AEST on Friday, the local unit was trading at 76.35 US cents, up from 76.34 cents on Thursday.

The Australian dollar lost ground on Thursday after the release of weak local trade figures and positive US economic data.

But the greenback fell overnight after US non-farm payrolls data showed that added 223,000 net new jobs in June, falling short of the 233,000 the market had expected.
